Moviegoers expecting an action-packed screening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day instead found themselves fleeing the auditorium after a patron's persistent, overpowering flatulence reportedly made the room unlivable.

According to TMZ, which first reported the incident, the smelly situation unfolded on Sunday, August 2, during a screening at the Cine Colombia multiplex inside the Plaza Bocagrande shopping centre in Cartagena, Colombia.

Audience members told the outlet they began noticing a strong, "rotten" odour coming from one section of the theatre roughly halfway through the film.

Many initially assumed it would pass quickly, but the smell rapidly intensified and lingered.
