The US will be represented at the technical level during the next round of direct talks between Lebanon and Israel in Rome, with senior delegations from both countries taking part, officials and sources familiar with the preparations told Al Arabiya English.
Scheduled for August 4 to 6, the talks are expected to mark the latest phase in Washington’s effort to institutionalize dialogue between Beirut and Israel after months of negotiations.

Unlike previous rounds, the US delegation will not include senior principals such as Counselor of the Department of State Dan Holler, who led earlier negotiations. The absence of high-level US officials should not be read as a sign that Washington considers the talks any less significant, the sources said.
Instead, the move reflects an expectation that the negotiations are shifting into a more routine phase, with regular meetings aimed at sustaining momentum rather than convening only during periods of heightened tension.
