MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives’ assistance center – Suporta sa Bayan Desk (Support to the People) has delivered over P380 million worth of assistance to over 7,000 Filipinos, a report from the chamber stated.

An update from the office of House Speaker Faustino Dy III on Monday showed that since the program was launched last March 18, the Suporta sa Bayan Desk has served 7,174 individuals seeking assistance from government agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH).

Dy said the total amount of aid facilitated by the House was at P381.5 million in 70 days, ranging from support for medicines and laboratory procedures, hospital bills, chemotherapy and chemotherapy medicines, dialysis, medical implants and devices, medical procedures and pre-operation requirements, therapy, and funeral expenses.

“When someone comes to the government seeking help, they should not be made to suffer. What we want is a faster, better, and a more humane service — which is the goal of the [Suporta sa Bayan Desk],” Dy said.
