Vice President Kashim Shettima and Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, on Monday urged state governments to intensify efforts to attract investment, saying stronger investment-driven competition and Nigeria’s improving macroeconomic stability would create jobs, accelerate economic growth, and improve citizens’ living standards.

They spoke at the opening of the 2026 Delta State Economic and Investment Summit held at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba.

The Vice President, who was the guest of honour at the summit, commended Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for organising the event, describing it as a platform capable of transforming ideas into real economic opportunities.

He praised the governor’s leadership style, saying Oborevwori had demonstrated courage, humility and commitment in taking decisions aimed at repositioning Delta State for sustainable growth.

Shettima also described investment-driven competition among states as a positive development for Nigeria’s economic future.
