iOS 27 is a big update for Apple’s Photos app, with improvements to slideshows, shared albums, and more. It also adds a welcome camera roll-type feature many have long been asking for: ‘Captured by Me.’

Apple’s Photos app has steadily expanded its feature set over the years. In addition to being home to the photos and videos your iPhone captures, it also includes content that’s been shared with you, Memories, screenshots, saved media, and a lot more.
The Photos app used to offer a ‘Camera Roll’ feature that was similar to what the ‘Recents’ album does today. It included images you captured as well as ones you saved.
But what’s been missing for a long time is a feature that actually just shows photos and videos that you’ve taken—in other words, something that could more accurately be called your ‘camera roll.’
