As part of enhanced security arrangements ahead of Independence Day, Delhi Police has identified at least 14,000 households, shops, and offices located near the route to be used for VIP and other movement during celebrations at Red Fort.
According to senior officials, the data was obtained using the eParikshan app and will be shared with the Special Branch for identification of people with criminal antecedents.
“While other mechanisms such as tenant verifications are continuously done, we have used the application to identify 14,000 households and businesses along the route. Their data was scanned and currently it is being identified whether anyone has any criminal history,” a senior officer said on condition of anonymity.
The officer said the app was used in North district earlier and its usage will be extended to Central district as well after Independence Day.
“The current survey has been done along the route from Tilak Marg to Netaji Subhash Marg for buildings located on both sides of the road,” the officer said.
