A six-year-old foster child who went missing was found under a table in a classroom in Nyanga.
A six-year-old foster child who went missing after a school function was found two days later sleeping in a classroom in Nyanga and has since been removed from his foster home.
The case has raised serious concerns about the monitoring of foster-care placements, particularly after the child allegedly told missing-persons activist Veronique “Benji” Williams that he did not want to return home.
Williams claimed that upon visiting the foster home, she found other children sleeping on the floor behind couches without mattresses.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that Nyanga SAPS had registered a missing-person enquiry for investigation, which was later transferred to the Nyanga Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
