Making Families Surrogacy Limited, an Ibadan-based surrogacy agency, has announced a 16% reduction in the IVF procedure for their surrogacy programs. The cost adjustment will be in effect from July 30 to August 30, 2026 in recognition of World IVF Day.
World IVF Day is observed globally on July 25 to raise awareness about infertility, reproductive health, and access to assisted reproductive technologies.
In Nigeria, most fertility treatment including IVF and surrogacy is paid out-of-pocket, with limited health insurance coverage. According to the agency, rising healthcare costs have made it increasingly difficult for many couples to access timely care.
“As we celebrated World IVF Day, we recognize that affordability remains one of the biggest barriers for Nigerian families seeking fertility treatment,” said Dr. Peace Mmewurum, Fertility Counselor at Making Families Surrogacy Limited. “This 30-day adjustment is aimed at making IVF more accessible and encouraging open, informed conversations about ethical surrogacy options in Nigeria.”
During the period, the agency will also publish a detailed guide breaking down the components of surrogacy costs. The guide is intended to address misinformation and help intended parents make informed decisions.
