Owala’s FreeSip water bottle has been one of our favorites since it first became popular in 2022. The main appeal comes from its two sipping options: One allows you to suck water through a straw, while the other reveals a wide-mouthed hole for bigger gulps. (This is unlike both the Hydro Flask, which has a straw lid you have to unscrew completely if you want to reveal the wider opening, and the Stanley, which has a separate straw you have to put in and take out of a designated hole.) The FreeSip’s cold retention is great; my sister and I recently took a road trip from San Francisco to San Diego and the ice in her bottle still hadn’t melted by the time we arrived. But perhaps the most likely reason it has gained such cultlike fame is all the delightful color combinations — there are over 60 available on Amazon for the 32-ounce version alone.
