Iranian media, citing the latest data from the Statistical Centre of Iran, reported that the country’s population had surpassed 87 million, reaching 87,000,777 at the time of publication.

According to these statistics, Iran’s population is projected to reach approximately 88,190,000 by 2028. This figure reflects an increase of roughly seven million compared with the country’s population of 81,053,000 recorded in 2017.

The Statistical Center of Iran also published demographic growth trends based on civil registry data and population estimates.

Previously, Iranian media, citing official statistics, reported that in the year ending in March 2026, the number of registered births in the country stood at 892,227, while registered deaths totalled 459,984. According to the report, the highest number of births was recorded during the summer, whereas the highest number of deaths occurred during the spring of the previous year.
