The 15-year deal is tied to RWE’s Crooked Creek Solar project, which RWE is slated to commence construction on later this year. Once operational in 2028, the project will deliver power into the Southwest Power Pool grid, helping Google to cover its electricity consumption in the Sooner State.
“Supporting a strong, stable, affordable grid is a top priority as we expand our infrastructure. Our agreement with RWE adds critical new generation to the local system, boosting the amount of affordable and reliable power supply for Oklahoma and the region,” said Will Conkling, director of energy and power, Google.
Google has grown its presence in the Sooner State over recent years. It has an existing campus in Pryor, which was announced by Google in 2007 and launched in 2011. It has been expanded at regular intervals since.
