Vietnamese military delegations have visited Slovak arms manufacturers twice in less than a year.
Relations between the governing Smer party and Vietnam may soon translate into arms deals, reports Denník E.
At the end of last year, a delegation from the Vietnamese military visited Slovakia and expressed interest in Slovak artillery systems. At the end of July, another delegation arrived. This time, its programme included visits to state-owned arms manufacturers and live weapons demonstrations.
"It was a purely military delegation, composed primarily of artillery officers and representatives of the Vietnamese defence industry," Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák (Smer) confirmed to the news outlet.
According to him, the visitors were interested in the EVA self-propelled howitzer, a lighter version of the better-known Zuzana, the SAM 120 mortar system, the GTS 30 rapid-fire cannon, and ammunition production.
