Citizens’ Voice Coimbatore (CVC) has urged the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd. (TNPDCL) to address issues relating to rooftop solar installations, power safety and maintenance of electricity infrastructure during a recent meeting with the Chief Engineer in Coimbatore.A delegation led by CVC president C.M. Jayaraman and adviser R. Kumar submitted a memorandum highlighting several public interest issues.The organisation sought better monitoring of rooftop solar systems and requested TNPDCL to issue updated guidelines for consumers following complaints of incorrect billing, non-utilisation of generated power and penalties.It also urged the utility to inspect and rectify loose and sagging electricity wires reported in areas such as Race Course, Ganapathy and Nanjundapuram Road, besides improving safety measures at major junctions.CVC called for stricter vigilance to curb corruption, regular removal of unauthorised advertisements from electricity poles and adherence to announced power shutdown schedules.The organisation also sought joint inspections by TNPDCL and telecom authorities to ensure safe separation of telecommunication cables and electricity lines in areas including Avinashi Road, Trichy Road and Saibaba Colony to prevent accidents.
