Torrent Power reported an almost 13 per cent year-on-year decline in consolidated profit for the first quarter of FY27, as weaker performance from its generation business offset growth in transmission, distribution and renewable energy (RE) segments. The company’s consolidated profit attributable to owners declined to ₹639 crore during the quarter from ₹731 crore in the year-ago quarter. Revenue from operations, however, rose 2.9 per cent to ₹8,124 crore (₹7,894 crore). The company said disruptions in LNG supplies affected the operations of its thermal power plants during the quarter. In contrast, Torrent Power’s transmission and distribution business reported an 11 per cent increase in revenue, supported by its licensed distribution operations, franchisee businesses and related ancillary services. Revenue from the RE segment grew 18 per cent during the quarter, reflecting the company’s continued expansion in wind and solar power generation.Torrent Power stated in an official release that its EBITDA grew 2 per cent despite a challenging operating environment, marked by geopolitical disruptions that impacted LNG supplies and, consequently, the performance of its thermal power plants. The company said the performance was supported by stronger contributions from its distribution and RE businesses, with EBITDA growth of 10 per cent and 6 per cent, respectively. Nabha PowerThe quarter also saw Torrent Power complete the acquisition of Nabha Power from Larsen & Toubro’s wholly-owned subsidiary L&T Power Development. The acquisition, completed on June 25, was valued at ₹3,632.35 crore.
