Nigeria’s second-richest man and Africa’s fourth-richest man, Abdulsamad Rabiu, via his funding program, the Abdulsamad Rabiu (ASR Africa) initiative, is nearing completion of a housing project strictly for the Nigerian Army.
The project is originally intended to improve the living conditions of junior military personnel in the Nigerian Army, a subject that has been very contentious amongst the Nigerian people.
Costing around N2 billion ($1.5 million), the project is said to be around 85% complete.
This information was disclosed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ubon Udoh of ASR Africa, who led a delegation to visit Nigeria's Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, at the Army Headquarters in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.
Dr. Udoh noted that the 120-unit quarters are designated for personnel ranked corporal and below, who are engaged in counter-insurgency operations.
