An example of cars that Judges Action Group (JAG) says are enjoyed by judges as state-provided privileges, but not magistrates.
High-end vehicle models, such as Mercedes-Benz S350 and BMW 740iA, are examples of some of the state-sponsored resources that practising judges are entitled to, but not magistrates.
Such privileges are among those that the Judges Action Group (JAG), which is fighting for the rights of judicial officers, is calling to be equally afforded to all officers of the court.
JAG’s coordinator, Rohan Roopnarian, sent an email to the Magistrates Commission Secretary, Justice Finger, on Friday, listing judges’ privileges that magistrates do not enjoy.
“Our plea is that it (request for privileges) be considered and processed by the commission,” read the email.
