Authorities continued searching Monday for a man missing after eight people aboard a sailboat ended up in the sea off the island of Symi, near Rhodes in the southeastern Aegean.
Seven of the eight people have been rescued and are in good health, according to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (AMNA).
The first survivors, a man and a woman, reached shore near the Panormitis Monastery on the southern tip of Symi, prompting a large search-and-rescue operation involving two Greek Coast Guard vessels and a Greek Air Force helicopter.
Shortly before midnight, another woman swam ashore and was later spotted by a fishing boat. Just after 1.20 a.m., a Coast Guard vessel located four more people, bringing the total number of survivors to seven.
