Diesel prices are expected to spike sharply in August.
The fuel price outlook for August is a mixed bag, with petrol expected to remain at current levels while diesel looks set for a sharp increase.
Central Energy Fund data released at the end of July is currently pointing to a five-cent decrease for 93 Unleaded and an unchanged price for 95 Unleaded.
However, diesel increases of between R1.75 for 50ppm and R1.91 for 500ppm appear to be on the cards after international product prices surged during July.
This will drive the wholesale price of 500ppm diesel up to around R25.82 at the coast and R26.69 in Gauteng, with 50ppm costing R26.16 and R26.91 respectively. Remember that pump prices will be at least R2 to R3 more, as this fuel is unregulated.
