Remittance inflows hit $2.85 billion in July, the highest for the month in at least eight years, according to Bangladesh Bank data.Migrant workers sent 15 percent more than the $2.59 billion sent in July last year.However, the figure still fell short of the $3 billion mark recorded each month between December 2024 and May 2025. The inflow fell below that mark in June, standing at $2.81 billion, before edging up last month, according to BB data.The surge offers the country crucial support in meeting external payment obligations, including import bills, at a time when export earnings remain sluggish.Exports fell 2 percent year-on-year to $40 billion in fiscal year 2025-26, while imports grew 6.26 percent year-on-year to $64 billion during the July-May period.Remittances, by contrast, hit a record $35.5 billion for the full fiscal year, up 17 percent year-on-year, BB data showed.
