Kogi state police command has disclosed that it has embarked on comprehensive investigation into the death of Samuel Opeyemi, a clergy whose lifeless body was discovered on Wednesday , in Ajaokuta local government area of Kogi stat

According to a press statement signed and issued by Saliu Oyiza Afusat ,Police Public Relations Officer and was made available to Journalists on Friday state that upon receipt of the report, Police operatives promptly mobilized to the scene where the body was recovered and evacuated to the hospital. A medical doctor certified the victim dead, after which the body was deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy. The deceased was subsequently identified as Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi of St. Paul Parish, Ayetoro Gbede, Ijumu local government area.

Parts of the statement reads that “In view of the circumstances surrounding the incident, Naziru Bello Kankarofi , the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough, discreet, and professional investigation aimed at unraveling the circumstances surrounding the incident, identifying all persons connected with the crime, and ensuring that those found culpable are brought to justice”.
