The government said that Governor Usman Ododo has directed all security agencies in the state to launch a full-scale investigation into the priest's death and ensure that everyone connected with the crime is brought to justice.
The Kogi State government has condemned the killing of a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, describing the incident as "barbaric" and vowing that those responsible will be tracked down and prosecuted.
The government said that Governor Usman Ododo has directed all security agencies in the state to launch a full-scale investigation into the priest's death and ensure that everyone connected with the crime is brought to justice.
The directive was conveyed in a statement issued on Friday in Lokoja by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo.
According to Fanwo, the government received news of the cleric's death with profound sadness and extended its condolences to the Catholic Diocese of Lokoja, the deceased's family, parishioners and the entire Christian community.
