Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat described the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram as a historic and proud moment for the people of North Andhra.The MP stated that it was a privilege to witness Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicate the ‘world-class international airport’ to the nation on Saturday (August 01, 2026). “The commencement of operations marked the beginning of a new era of connectivity, development, and opportunities for the region,” he said, adding that the airport would significantly strengthen prospects in tourism, trade, industrial investment, and employment, and help transform North Andhra into one of the fastest-growing regions in the country.The MP appreciated the coordinated efforts of the Central and State governments in bringing the project to fruition, and said the long-awaited airport would boost the regional economy by attracting domestic and international investment while accelerating tourism growth.Mr. Sribharat further said that naming the airport after freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju made it a symbol of aspirations and pride for the people of North Andhra, and expressed confidence that it would connect the region to the world and create opportunities for future generations.
