Ramesh Heggi, Assistant Development Officer of the D. Devaraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation in Bidar, has been placed under suspension following a departmental inquiry into allegations of irregularities in the implementation of government welfare schemes.The suspension order was issued by the corporation’s Managing Director after the inquiry reportedly found lapses in the discharge of official duties.The inquiry was initiated based on a complaint filed by activist Sanju A. Yadav, alleging violations in the implementation of the Ganga Kalyana Scheme and the corporation’s self-employment loan scheme.Mr. Yadav, in his complaint, alleged that the borewell sanctioned under the Ganga Kalyana Scheme for a beneficiary from the Bhalki Assembly constituency had allegedly been drilled in the Humnabad Assembly constituency. He also alleged that loan assistance under the 2022-23 Self-Employment Direct Loan Scheme had been sanctioned to more than one member of the same family in the Bidar South Assembly constituency, contrary to the scheme guidelines.The complainant had sought information under the Right to Information Act regarding the alleged irregularities and had also submitted representations to the Principal Secretary of the Backward Classes Welfare Department, the Managing Director of the Corporation, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Bidar Zilla Panchayat.The departmental inquiry substantiated the allegations of dereliction of duty, following which Mr. Heggi was placed under suspension.
