Officials from the Telangana food safety department suspended the licence of the central kitchen operated by EatClub Brands Private Limited in Ghatkesar, Medchal Malkajgiri district, after an inspection found multiple food safety violations, including pest infestation, poor hygiene and improper storage of raw meat and other food products. The central kitchen supplies food to outlets operating under brands such as Box 8 and Mojo Pizza.During the inspection, officials observed poor sanitation and hygiene practices and found cockroach, housefly and rodent infestation on the premises. Raw meat, eggs and vegetarian and non-vegetarian products were also allegedly stored improperly.Officials also flagged inadequate temperature-controlled transportation of food, multiple labelling violations on packaged food products and improper handling of food by workers. Bare-hand handling of food and unhygienic food preparation practices were among the violations recorded during the inspection.Synthetic food colours were found on the premises. Officials also found that sugar being used in the preparation of food items was labelled as ‘Pharmaceutical Grade’, raising concerns over its intended use.The inspection further revealed discrepancies in licensing categories and inadequate maintenance of food safety records, officials said.Following the inspection, food articles found to be in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Regulations were seized and the licence of the central kitchen was suspended.
