Russian forces attacked Odesa with strike drones, hitting a multi-story residential building in the city center and injuring two people, local authorities reported. According to Odesa Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Kiper, the victims are an 18-year-old and a 28-year-old man. Nationwide barrage and interceptor shortage The drone strike on Odesa coincided with a massive nationwide aerial barrage early Saturday, Aug. 1, involving a total of 35 missiles and 185 attack drones of various types. During the overnight assault, Ukrainian air defenses intercepted just one of 27 Russian ballistic missiles due to a critical shortage of Patriot interceptors. While strikes were also recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions, the capital was the primary target of the ballistic missiles. The strikes on Kyiv triggered repeated explosions, killing nine residents and injuring 30 others, including four children, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.
