Bulgaria has the potential to expand its production of drones and anti-drone systems and is seeking partnerships to develop high-tech defense capabilities, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said during a meeting with representatives of US-based defense technology company Axon.
Radev discussed opportunities for cooperation with Nathan Sawtell, Axon’s Senior Vice President for Global Trade Programs and Partnerships. The company, known for developing security and defense technologies including stun devices, body cameras, drones and anti-drone systems, has expressed interest in increasing its production capacity through partnerships with Bulgarian companies.
The prime minister emphasized that the changing global security environment, combined with rapid advances in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, requires countries to strengthen their preparedness for new challenges, particularly in defense and national security.
“Bulgaria has the capacity to produce drones and anti-drone systems and is actively seeking opportunities to both increase it and develop it through state-of-the-art high-tech solutions,” Radev said.
According to Sawtell, Axon considers Bulgaria a reliable partner and sees opportunities for investment and cooperation in Europe.
