President Volodymyr Zelensky has updated the composition of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), appointing new military and government leadership to the advisory body while removing former officials. According to the document, the newly appointed members of the NSDC include Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi, Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Vyhivskyi, Minister of Economy and Environment Oleksandr Kravchenko, and Minister of Justice Denys Maslov. The council also integrated several acting agency heads, introducing Acting Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Oleksandr Poklad, Acting Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara, and Acting Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. Simultaneously, the decree removed several prominent figures from the NSDC following the recent government reshuffle. Those dismissed from the council include former Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky, former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, former Internal Affairs Minister Ihor Klymenko, and former Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. Government restructuring and postwar planning The sweeping changes to the NSDC align with broader administrative shifts implemented throughout July. On July 16, a new government was approved, led by Koretskyi, the former CEO of the state-owned energy company Naftogaz. During this transitional period, several acting ministers were appointed to key positions, including Khmara at the Defense Ministry and Sybiha at the Foreign Ministry.
