According to the resident, members of the group claimed they were enforcing a court order but arrived during the court vacation period, a development that raised concerns among affected residents.
Residents of Santos Estate in the Dopemu area along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in the Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State have raised the alarm over an invasion by suspected land grabbers accompanied by police officers, who allegedly marked buildings for demolition and threatened occupants.
The residents alleged that more than 300 individuals stormed the estate on Friday, causing panic among homeowners and tenants while claiming to be acting on a court judgment over the disputed land.
Speaking to SaharaReporters, a resident who witnessed the incident said the group moved through the estate marking structures and informing occupants that the properties would be demolished.
"Land grabbers, over 300 in number, came with police officers into Santo Estate marking buildings for demolition and disturbing the peace of residents," the resident said.
