A court has sentenced a Russian agent to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property whom the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained in June 2025 while he was preparing a series of terrorist attacks in Kharkiv.
The SBU said this in a statement seen by Ukrinform.
The investigation established that the convicted man was a laboratory technician at a local university who had been recruited by the FSB. Russian intelligence services took an interest in him after he posted anti-Ukrainian comments on Telegram channels.
The recruited traitor was tasked with making three remote-controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The suspect was then supposed to place them in hiding spots for subsequent transfer to perpetrators of planned terrorist attacks near administrative buildings in central Kharkiv.
