Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has received a request from the Office of the President asking it to consider the possibility of opening criminal proceedings against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
The information was confirmed to Ukrinform by Mariana Haiovska-Kovbasiuk, Head of the PGO's Information Policy and Communications Department.
"On July 30, 2026, the Office of the Prosecutor General registered a request received from the Office of the President of Ukraine for consideration within its competence. The request is currently under review. Once it has been processed, the applicants will be informed in accordance with the procedure established by law," Haiovska-Kovbasiuk said.
She added that no criminal proceedings have been opened on the basis of the request at this stage.
Earlier, Ukrainian media, citing Reuters, reported that the Office of the President had asked the Prosecutor General to consider opening criminal proceedings against Lukashenko.
