Millions of smallholder farmers across Africa produce much of the continent’s food, yet many remain excluded from formal financial systems because they lack the records and credit histories lenders require.
UfarmX is changing that by digitising agricultural value chains, giving farmers greater market access while generating the data that helps financial institutions recognise them as creditworthy.
In the process, the company is reshaping Africa’s agricultural supply chain and opening new pathways to finance for farmers. Alexander Zanders founded agritech platform UfarmX unlocks Africa’s $100 billion agricultural financing gap by building data-driven credit infrastructure for smallholder farmers.
Operating across Nigeria, Senegal, and Liberia, UfarmX has credit-scored over 17,000 farmers and facilitated $6.8 million in commerce while maintaining a remarkably low 1.17 percent net default rate.
The company finances inputs on credit through local agro-dealers and is launching a credit-scoring API to allow banks, microfinance institutions, and development funds to assess farm loans at scale.
