MANILA, Philippines — The complaints filed by Vice President Sara Duterte’s husband Manases Carpio against several House of Representatives members involved in the impeachment proceedings appear as a mere delaying tactic, several lawmakers said on Friday.
In filing their response to the complaint, ACT Teachers party-list Rep. Antonio Tinio and Kabataan party-list Rep. Renee Co said that Carpio’s claims that they violated bank secrecy and data privacy laws during the House committee on justice proceedings only serve to “derail those who seek accountability.”
“This complaint just aims to derail those who seek accountability. It’s not even up to standard! It is a distraction from the whole impeachment proceedings,” Co, a spokesperson for the prosecution team, said.
