MANILA, Philippines — A lawmaker has expressed hope that proposals to create a long-term plan against textbook shortage will also get attention from the House of Representatives, noting that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also placed importance on education during his latest State of the Nation Address (Sona).
In a statement, Parañaque Rep. Brian Raymund Yamsuan urged colleagues to pass House Bill (HB) No. 7868, which seeks to give the National Book Development Board (NBDB) a broader role in the preparation and production of public school textbooks.
“Tulad nga nang sinabi ng Pangulong Bongbong Marcos sa kanyang Sona, ‘edukasyon pa rin ang pangunahing nagtataguyod ng kakayahan,” Yamsuan said on Thursday.
