Flipkart and Netflix on Friday announced a partnership that allows Flipkart Plus members to unlock a Netflix Mobile Plan each month by completing four qualifying orders of ₹299 or more within a calendar month. The benefit goes live on August 1, 2026, and marks the first time Netflix can be earned through e-commerce shopping in India rather than purchased separately or bundled with a telecom recharge.Qualifying orders can be placed across Flipkart, Flipkart Grocery, and Flipkart Minutes. Once the fourth order is completed, the Netflix Mobile Plan is activated for 30 days directly through the Flipkart app, with no additional payment required. The benefit must be re-earned each month by repeating the same shopping pattern.Customers who are not yet Flipkart Plus members are enrolled automatically after completing 15 orders within 12 months at no extra cost.Ravi Iyer, CFO and SVP Strategic Partnerships at Flipkart, said four orders a month already reflects the natural shopping behaviour of many customers, and the partnership converts that routine into access to entertainment. Laurent Uguen, Vice President APAC Partnerships at Netflix, described it as the company’s first e-commerce partnership in India, built around existing consumer habits rather than new spending. The programme is positioned to reach customers beyond metro cities, extending to Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets where grocery and daily essentials shopping on Flipkart platforms is growing. Flipkart, founded in 2007, counts more than 500 million registered users and over 1.4 million sellers on its marketplace. The partnership reflects a broader shift in loyalty programmes away from points and discounts toward experiential benefits, particularly as younger consumers increasingly treat shopping and entertainment as interconnected parts of daily life.Published on July 31, 2026
