WINNIPEG, Manitoba--Canola futures on the Intercontinental Exchange were lower Friday morning despite rising crude oil prices.
Iran attacked U.S. military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain overnight with no end in sight to the fighting. Crude oil was up more than US$1 per barrel this morning.
However, the vegetable oil complex showed weakness. Chicago soyoil nearly lost one U.S. cent per pound, while European rapeseed and Malaysian palm oil were down.
Southeastern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan were under heat warnings Friday morning. While northern parts of those provinces will see rain and moderate temperatures, daytime highs in the southern half of the Prairies will hover around 30 degrees Celsius.
The Canadian dollar was down less than one-tenth of a U.S. cent compared with Thursday's close.
