The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested a 66-year-old man for allegedly grabbing two properties measuring about five grounds and collectively worth around ₹10 crore, in Nungambakkam by using forged documents.According to the police, the complainant, G. Gauriyammal, 81, owned the properties measuring 181 sq. ft. and comprising a building. Kuberan, of Aminjikarai, along with a few associates, allegedly conspired to usurp the properties using forged documents. They allegedly presented the forged documents and registered General Power of Attorney (GPA) deeds in his favour.Using the fake GPA documents, Kuberan executed one sale deed in his name and another in favour of his son, thereby fraudulently taking possession of both properties, the police said.Based on Gauriyammal’s complaint, the CCB’s Land Fraud Investigation Wing-II registered a case on July 20 and launched an investigation. The police arrested Kuberan, 66, who was already facing two cases registered by the CCB. He has been convicted in one of those cases, while the other remains pending before a court. He has also previously been detained under the Tamil Nadu Goondas Act, the police said. Search is under way for the other accused. Published - July 31, 2026 07:32 pm IST
