Brazil’s main stock exchange, B3, hit a wall on Friday when technical processing issues forced the suspension of trading across most Brazilian assets.

Trading in most Brazil assets was suspended on Friday as B3 grappled with technical difficulties. B3 is the largest stock exchange in Latin America by both market capitalization and trading volume, meaning the disruption effectively froze price discovery for an entire major economy’s worth of securities.

The exchange manages a sprawling portfolio of financial instruments, from equities and fixed income to derivatives and, increasingly, crypto-related products.

B3’s last widely documented major technical outage was back in 2021, with no other significant issues reported in 2026 prior to this incident.
