Westinghouse Electric Company has confidentially filed a draft registration statement with the SEC for a proposed initial public offering. The filing was submitted on July 31.
From Chapter 11 to S-1
Westinghouse collapsed into Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2017 after its AP1000 reactor construction projects hemorrhaged money through massive cost overruns. The company emerged from bankruptcy in 2018.
Brookfield Renewable Partners and Cameco acquired Westinghouse for approximately $8 billion in late 2023, splitting ownership 51-49 respectively.
In October 2025, a strategic partnership between the US government, Brookfield, and Cameco committed at least $80 billion toward new reactor deployments.
