EFF leader Julius Malema criticized MacGyver "MacG" Mukwevho’s Podcast and Chill, claiming the popular show is a platform designed to depoliticize South African youth and promote an alcohol-heavy culture.

EFF leader Julius Malema has sparked fresh debate over the influence of digital media after criticising MacGyver 'MacG' Mukwevho and his hugely popular Podcast and Chill.

Speaking during a recent address, Malema argued that one of South Africa's biggest podcasts has become a distraction for young people, claiming it encourages entertainment and excessive drinking culture instead of meaningful political engagement.

According to the EFF leader, platforms with massive youth audiences should be helping young South Africans better understand the country's political, economic and social challenges rather than focusing primarily on celebrity interviews, gossip and alcohol-centred conversations.

Malema went as far as suggesting that Podcast and Chill was created to "depoliticise" young people, warning that the country's youth risk becoming disconnected from issues that directly affect their futures.
