A substantial minority of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are persistently seropositive for lupus biomarkers even though clinical symptoms remain mild to absent.No factors have been conclusively identified that help predict lupus flares in this population.In this 60-patient study, upward trends in IgG-type antibodies against double-stranded DNA and decreasing C3 complement levels were each significantly associated with future flare development.
