Dr Rishigen Viranna has succeeded Sister Thobile Mthembu as the head of the Usizo Lwethu Sibaya Clinic at the Denis Hurley Centre in Durban.
Former KwaZulu-Natal Member of the Provincial Legislature Dr Rishigen Viranna will head the Usizo Lwethu Sibaya Clinic at the Denis Hurley Centre (DHC) in Durban.
Dr Raymond Perrier, director of the DHC, made the public announcement on Friday. Viranna has succeeded Sister Thobile Mthembu as the head of the clinic.
Perrier said after five months of helping out, on and off, Viranna was inspired to apply for the vacancy created by Mthembu’s planned departure. Mthembu had been the fourth head of the clinic for more than two years.
Viranna, who is from Umhlanga, had been travelling the world working as a doctor for the Nobel-prize-winning Doctors Without Borders. He had completed a placement in Nigeria.
