Nigeria’s sprint hurdler, Tobi Amusan, has disclosed that she carried a knee injury from a fall at training camp into the women’s 100m hurdles final at the Commonwealth Games.
She said the setback left her uncertain about her fitness in the build-up to Thursday’s race in Glasgow.
Amusan finished third in the final, clocking 12.60 seconds, as the Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton won gold in 12.33 seconds and Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds took silver in 12.41 seconds.
The result ended her bid to become the first woman to win three consecutive Commonwealth titles in the event, having won gold at the 2018 and 2022 editions of the Games.
