The U.S. Coast Guard has awarded a new contract for the construction of housing and maintenance support buildings. The USCG awarded the contract, worth $9.8 million, to Orion Construction Inc. of Wasilla, Alaska, to build six housing units and one maintenance support building in Seward, Alaska. These buildings will house Coast Guard personnel and their families so that personnel are prepared and ready for critical missions, the USCG said in a statement. “These new housing units and maintenance facility are essential to supporting our personnel and families as we expand the Coast Guard footprint in Seward,” said Rear Adm. Bob Little, commander, U.S. Coast Guard Arctic District, in a statement. “This investment gives our crews safe, modern accommodations and strengthens our ability to achieve operational excellence and mission success in Alaska and the Arctic region.” The six houses will be four four-bedroom houses and two three-bedroom units. One is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and they will be built in duplexes. The contract was awarded on July 20, 2026, and the USCG announced the contract in a press release issued on Tuesday.
