MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson has expressed doubts to the sincerity of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano’s call for a ceasefire, saying that the latter talked to five senators from the majority about halting their exchanges only to deny it later.

In a press release citing his interviews with DZBB on Friday, Lacson said that Cayetano’s attempts to call for a ceasefire started last July 22 when he approached five majority senators. It supposedly intensified on Monday and Tuesday, when Cayetano approached one senator to relay his request.

According to Lacson, the matter was raised during the majority’s caucus on Wednesday.
