Taxi and bus fares have increased by 30 per cent from Friday, July 31, after the Land Transport Authority (LTA) confirmed the new rates are now in effect.
The LTA issued a public notice advising taxi stand and bus operators to follow the approved fare increase.
The increase follows Cabinet’s decision earlier this week to approve a 30 per cent rise in taxi and bus fares.
The Government said the adjustment was aimed at helping ensure public transport services remain sustainable while continuing to meet the needs of the public.
The revised fare schedule was to be announced by the LTA, which was also responsible for confirming the date the new rates would take effect.
