Taxi drivers are urging the government to review taxi fares as rising fuel prices continue to increase operating costs.

Drivers say current taxi rates no longer reflect the reality of higher fuel costs, leaving many struggling to earn enough income after paying for fuel and vehicle maintenance.

Taxi driver Peni Tuala said fuel expenses now consume a significant portion of his daily earnings.

"Fuel prices keep increasing, but our fares remain the same," Tuala said.

"We are working longer hours just to make enough money to cover our costs."
