Nigerians spent about ₦1.7tn on MTN Nigeria’s data services in the first half of 2026, highlighting sustained demand for internet connectivity despite prevailing economic pressures.
MTN Nigeria disclosed this in its unaudited financial statements for the six months ended June 30, 2026, filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Thursday.
According to the telecom operator, data revenue rose to “₦1.699tn during the six-month period, up from ₦1.229tn recorded in the corresponding period of 2025, representing an increase of about 38.3 per cent.”
The company said data remained its largest revenue stream, ahead of voice services, which generated ₦897.14bn, while SMS contributed ₦112.68bn during the period.
Total revenue climbed to ₦2.99tn, compared with ₦2.38tn in the first half of 2025.
