A man has been sentenced to one year in jail for stalking and harassing a woman in his neighbourhood.Based on a complaint received from a woman hailing from B.V. Palem in Tada mandal of Tirupati district on July 1, 2024, the police filed a case against S. Ayub Ansari (28) on charges of stalking the woman in public places, visiting her house when she was alone, and making lewd comments.When the case came up for hearing on Thursday at the Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate’s Court in Sullurpeta, the Principal Junior Civil Judge P. Samyuktha slapped a one-year jail sentence and a fine of ₹5,000 on Ayub Ansari.Superintendent of Police (SP) L. Subbarayudu appreciated the then Sub-Inspector (Tada) P. Narasinga Rao, present Circle Inspector M. Muralikrishna and the Assistant Public Prosecutor K.J. Prakruti Kumar for their roles in bringing the case to a conclusion.
