Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police A. Pavan Kumar Reddy on Thursday held a meeting with private and omni bus operators to discuss road safety, traffic management, public awareness and measures to prevent traffic violations. Over 100 persons, including Deputy Superintendents of Police, Inspectors, Transport Department officers, private bus owners, office-bearers and members of private bus associations and representatives of omni bus associations from across the district, attended the meeting.The SP stressed that reducing road accidents involving private buses and ensuring the safety of the public is a shared responsibility. He emphasised that special care must be taken while women, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities are board and alight from buses.Transport Department officials explained the harmful effects of using high-decibel pressure horns, unnecessary decorative lighting and excessively bright headlights.The SP informed bus operators that a period of 15 days would be granted for compliance with the instructions and traffic regulations discussed during the meeting.
