When Broken Bow released Jason Aldean’s “Dirt Road Anthem” to country radio in 2011, the label took some flack from naysayers who thought that the recitation in the verses wouldn’t work.
When it rose to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart dated July 30, 2011, it supported Aldean’s predilection for pushing boundaries, becoming the sixth of his 10 singles to that point to reach the top. To date, Aldean has notched 10 leaders on the list and 27 No. 1s on Country Airplay, through “Don’t Tell on Me” earlier in July.
